As the UI/UX Designer you will provide a spectrum of services across our portfolio of products. Each member of the design team should be ‘T’ shaped and have a broad range of expertise across the entire UI/UX design landscape with deep pockets of expertise in one or a few areas. This allows the design team to collaboratively drive excellence across the portfolio and provide a strong support network across the family.As a member of the UI/UX Design Team, you will be working closely with fellow designers and dedicated product leads to help develop our flagship products. You will be expected to carry out key activities that include gathering requirements, creating personas and user-journeys, conceptualizing features, wire framing and prototyping the user interface, data visualization, working alongside Business Analysts to create user stories, supporting development teams and carrying out user testing.

You will contribute to our growing library of best-practice, style guides, standards and patterns. Helping to identify smart ways to collaborate and share effort to better the wider team and portfolio of products.

YOU'RE GOOD AT

Carry out and/or contribute to the stages of the interaction design process. Helping to establish and evolve the product design from concept to implementation:Rapid ideation (Sketching, White-boarding, etc)Wireframes & PrototypesVisual designFront-end implementationTriage / resolving blockersIdentifying new standards and patternsCollaborate with Engineering on UI requirements in agile SCRUM or iterative development life cyclesBe comfortable with balancing technical challenges with best practice interaction designPerform other projects and duties as assigned or requiredAbility to empathize with our clients and usersPresentation mastery (both creation and delivering)Stakeholder conversation and relationship managementCollaboration and exploration participation (remotely and in-person)A shared appreciation of BCG’s values and cultureModerate amount of traveling – dependent on project requirementsUser-centered design approachDeep understanding of the full spectrum of visual design and willingness to introduce new approaches and industry and technology trends to the team as and when is appropriateUnderstanding of user research methodologies and practiceExperience working with complex systems and data dense environmentsStrong understanding of what makes data visualization workExperience working with responsive and adaptive interface designs to support cross-device and differing environmentsGood understanding of accessibility standards and how they should influence our product designsCreate standards that can be effectively rolled out to our 3rd party vendorsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills to help evangelize our interaction design guidance across the business and to successfully articulate concepts at all levelsAbility to validate ideas quickly, able to fail fast and learn moving forwardStrong collaborative skills and able to adjust approach to effectively interact with colleagues at all organizational and technical levelsA good understanding of, and experience working alongside different software development models and life cycle

YOU BRING

BS/BA Degree in Graphic and Media Design or related field; advanced degree preferred or equivalent experience in the fieldMinimum of 2-3 years’ experience in UX/UI design for application developmentA strong portfolio that demonstrates UI design thinking and core craft skills across a variety of client categories and design formats & methodologies
