Full-stack application developer (PHP+JS), intermediate level

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a software engineer and full-stack developer to join an agile, international R&D team with highly skilled specialists in charge of the design, implementation, roll-out and support of in-house business applications based on a modern LAMP stack and our own custom technology which we continuously evolve, researching new technology as we go.

At Westcon we develop a significant part of our key software in-house, including challenging, customer-facing applications for technical-related activities. We offer a long-term, stable position where the engineer is expected to learn from the senior members of the team and grow as a professional to become a key member of the team. We don't employ any interns, hire for the short term, rely on consultancy companies or do any outsourcing of our people. What we need we build, both on technology and personal levels.

For this position we require a minimum of 1 year of full-time professional experience on web application development with PHP and JavaScript (besides any internships prior to this you may have had to do).

WHAT WE NEED

• English language: CEFR B2 (FCE) level at a minimum
• At least 1 year of professional experience with PHP, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL
• Strong experience with GNU/Linux as a power user - you will use nothing else at Westcon
• Passion for technology and software development, taking pride in doing quality over quantity

BONUS SKILLS

• Bonus programming languages we value and love: Python, Clojure, Lisp, Scala, Haskell or Perl
• Experience implementing web services (preferrably RESTful stuff)
