About the job We are designing a new Wordpress site for a leading economist. An author of best-selling books challenging orthodox economic thinking around capitalism, the state and value creation, and offering radical new thinking on how we can collectively face the global challenges facing humanity, she is a globally recognised thought leader. The new website will need to make her thinking and ideas accessible to a diverse audience, as well as cataloging her work, research and media appearances, and promoting her books.
About youYou enjoy working as part of a design team, contributing to conversations around the development of a project, and how to achieve the best results for a client. You are happy to ask challenging questions about design decisions and their impact, and to propose new ideas and solutions. You are used to working independently, taking responsibility to manage your own work and tasks effectively, and to work remotely and without supervision. (Fluency in English is a must).
ResponsibilitiesHelping to establish and guide the website’s architectureDesigning and implementing new features and functionalityEnsuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMSHelping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme Skills and experienceGood understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQueryExperience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applicationsExperience designing and developing responsive design websitesComfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsersAbility to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pagesKnowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (such as Git)An understanding of PHP back-end developmentUnderstanding of react.js and vue.js frameworks
AvailabilityIdeally you will be based in a similar time zone to us (CEST) and be available to start immediately. The duration of the project will be for 3-4 months.
