ART DIRECTOR
Birdland Entertainment is hiring! Birdland is an animation studio that produces and distributes kids content for all digital and linear.Born in 2018, the studio is currently in growth and expansion phase thanks to very innovative processes for both production and distribution. There are currently 79 people in Amuse, our partner studio in Paris, and 12 people located in the Canary Islands. All are working on creating, producing and distributing over 20 original series. With over 500 millions views per month and a presence in 60 countries, we are currently positioned as the leader of digital animation in Europe.
We are seeking an Art Director for linear (TV) and online animated series. Preschool content experience is a plus.
Location: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Must be available to start in house first of June, at the latest.
Our ideal candidate can lead a team of concept artists to make certain that the style, vision, and genre for the series are met for each of their episodes.
Responsibilities:
Work with the Creative Producer to ensure that his/her creative vision will be produced within production timelineCommunicate, organize and relay all revisions/notes to your team.Support, guide and lead your team in a positive manner.Accomplishes art department work requirements by orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching employees.Meets art department work standards by following production, productivity, and quality standards; resolving operational problems; identifying work process improvements.Meets art department cost standards by monitoring expenses; implementing cost-saving actions.Formulates art concepts by supervising workers engaged in executing layout designs for art work and copy to be presented by visual communications media.Reviews project production factors by studying budget, background information, objectives, presentation approaches, styles, and techniques.Selects and secures illustrative material by formulating basic layout design concept; conducting research.Produces illustrative material by assigning layout design concept to artists and graphists; directing development of design concepts.Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes.
Skills and Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in animated series (digital or linear), preferably in Kids content.Knowledge of 2D/3D production pipeline from development to post production.Graphic Design Skills, Developing Creative Standards, Illustration Tools, Desktop Publishing Skills, Multimedia Content Development.Comfortable working digitally on a Cintiq.Outstanding people skills: ability to guide a unique group of creative staff.Excellent organizational and project management skills.Must be able to adapt to changes easily within a highly dynamic environment, including the management of the team within this environment.Strong attention to detail is critical.Previous leadership experience, including demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team.
